FAQs
HOW DO I BOOK MY SESSION?
You can complete the online form or you can reach me via email (contact@buattiramos.com) or via phone (516.987.1714). I typically book 4 - 6 weeks in advance, and even further out as the holidays draw near. Newborn sessions are best within 2 weeks of birth, and with advance notice of your due date, I will be sure to hold space on my calendar for your new arrival. You will be contacted shortly after so we can schedule your session.
WHAT TIME ARE SESSIONS TYPICALLY?
Because all sessions are shot using available light it is preferable to schedule sessions either early morning or in the later part of the evening, approximately one to two hours before sunset for outdoor sessions. We do understand that this does not always work out with little ones and their bed times so we will discuss what time will work the best for you while scheduling your session. Sessions held in your home or in the studio are typically scheduled for late morning or early afternoon.
WHERE WILL MY SESSION BE?
Once we've confirmed your session date and time, we'll discuss many things including the location of our shoot. We may decide on your home, a park, the beach or another favorite spot, where your child(ren) will feel comfortable and free to be themselves! I currently do NOT have a studio but I am more than able to bring the studio to your home, if that is the style you are hoping for.
WHAT WILL MY SESSION BE LIKE?
I'll do my best to make sure our time together is relaxed and fun! It's more like a play date for you and your kids than the torture portrait sessions of the past. I love to capture the natural interactions of brother and sister, mom and daughter etc. during family sessions. We will talk all about what your needs and wants are and create the perfect session just for you!
HOW LONG WILL IT LAST?
Sessions are typically 1 - 1.5 hours, and the duration can vary greatly depending on the number of people I am photographing, ages of the children, location, etc.
WHAT DO I WEAR?
I'll provide you with lots of detail about clothing in your pre-session information packet, and we can discuss many options, but here are some general guidelines. For newborns, there is nothing as cute as a birthday suit, or simple diaper cover and perhaps a fun hat! For toddlers and older children, solid colors and simple patterns are best - try to avoid logos and other distracting images on clothing that will "age" the photos. For family shots, a coordinated effort is great, without necessarily being "matchy matchy."
We can discuss this to be sure we achieve the "look" in your portraits that you are hoping for. Whether classic or quirky, the clothing your child and family chooses should best reflect their spirit!
WHAT HAPPENS WHEN WE SAY GOODBYE?
After your session, I begin to edit and prepare your images for proofing. Within a few days, I usually put a few "sneak peek" shots on my blog, to hold you over until your final proofs are ready, which will be approximately 2 weeks later. You'll then have access to your images in a private, personalized online gallery, at which time you can place your print order and share your new photos with friends and family.
DO YOU PHOTOGRAPH ON WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS?
While availability on holidays is limited, we can schedule a session to capture that adorable Halloween outfit or special Easter bonnet while they still fit!
